Peace Arch Hiroshima Classical Music Concert
The original source comes from a live performance at the Peace Arch Hiroshima Classical Music Concert held in summer 2016. The concert was performed by the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra (HSO), whose theme is “Music for Peace,” together with musicians from Japan, which experienced a tragedy in WWII, the U.S., Germany, and Poland. Held with the aim of sending a message of peace through music, the concert brought astounding joy to the audience.
Musical pieces include a beautiful piano concerto by Chopin, performed by Aimi Kobayashi, who is a Japan’s prominent young pianist and a finalist in the 17th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition, the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra from Poland, the homeland of Chopin, and HSO. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Ode to Joy performed by musicians from Japan, the U.S., Germany, and Poland is also included. There is no doubt that all of these performances will be engraved in your memory.

In August 2015, which marked the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the A-bombing in Hiroshima, the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra gave a performance together with Martha Argerich for the first time in Hiroshima and Tokyo. The live sound source of “An Evening of Peace Concert,“ which was held in Hiroshima in 2015 and met with a favorable reception, has been distributed in high resolution for charity.
The proceeds will be donated for the maintenance of the A-bombed piano that had been owned by Akiko Kawamoto (Akiko’s piano), on which Martha Argerich played a song, and for the support of musical activities conducted by the Soma Children’s Orchestra and Chorus (Fukushima Prefecture) through the Friends of El Sistema Japan.
