We have just received a message to this concert from Kent Nagano , Music Director of the ORCHESTRE SYMPHONIQUE DE MONTRÉAL.
“On behalf of all my colleagues at the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM), I salute the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra for its Music for Peace project. Two OSM musicians – Ali Yazdanfar and John Zirbel – will join the Hiroshima Symphony to perform in a concert to mark the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven, as part of Music for Peace Project. What better way to make a statement for world peace than through the music of Beethoven? Through it is carried the eternal values of the Enlightenment – Liberty, Fraternity and Equality. This motto, made famous in the French revolution, is as relevant and urgent as ever today. In the 21st century, Music for Peace, featuring visiting musicians from all over the world, is both a metaphor and a model for international and cross-cultural cooperation.”
